How to read the capacity of your boat battery

Right designing of the capacity

To choose the right capacity for your battery bank, you should consider the following steps:

  1. Consider the nominal voltage! When you use 12V batteries you have to divide the total voltage through 12. Then you will receive the number of needed batteries.
  2. Determine the max. current of the load or loads
  3. Define how long you would like to use the electrical system without recharging.
  4. Now you can calculate the min. capacity! Multiply: CURRENT X HOURS X SAFETY FACTOR = MIN. TOTAL CAPACITY in AH (Safety factor for customary batteries is roughly 1.65 to 2.4; Aquamot ALS batteries has 1.35)

TIP:
The battery capacity the battery bank can be raised through parallel connecting.
